This is super helpful. What I don't understand is that when you have two tone pots, I see some people do it by connection one pick up to the middle lug of the tone pot, and another pickup connected to the ground lug of another tone pot, and the ground of the first pot goes to the middle lug of the second pot. I can't picture the flow of signal in myself because what you have demonstrated here makes 100% sense to me, but the 2 tone pot situation doesn't 🤣

The switch has an extra connection, for ground. Good. I just did a wiring fix on a friend's Les Paul (my first adventure in electric guitar land), and that was the only bit I wasn't sure I got right. Looks like I did, after all. Thanks.

Orange sounded without some balls compared with the DSL20, honestly. Tigher... FOR ME, It's more like a small amp as it is (compared with the DSL20) and almost boxy rather than tighter.

Well this is certainly not fair of me as I listen on my Phone but the Celestian sounds richer and denser while still having the kick balls midrange. Eminence sounds tighter with more upper in range mids and more ice pick fizz in my phone anyhow. A better comparison could be the Chinese V30 with the goofed up dust caps that everyone hates except myself perhaps. I can replace a dust cap or add dope to speakers, I am not scared to mod them to taste however that stuff doesn’t make a huge difference as does the overall composition and some mods affect efficiency or resonance. Also in fairness, was the Eminence speaker broke in ? It will probably always sound stiffer than the V30 but the lower mids may open up some after 100 hours or torture. Thanks for the video, all these years later. Kinda makes me not want the Gov unless it’s $60 😂

I was so happy with this amp, at first it kicked ass, but then I started to have problems similar to this. I replaced a preamp tube and fixed the problem only for a few days. now I have to decide if I want to invest in new power amp and or preamp tubes? not happy with Peavey 6505 Mh my Fender and Marshall amps are more reliable. if i replace the tubes and still have the problem, my vow is to not sell the item down the line to the next unsuspecting guitar player.

I know it's old, but beeing curious. With the sound samples of DSL you show a picture of all controlls at noon. Did you try to dial resonace to "0" and still did nopt get the tightness you wanted (contolling the amount of needed bass with the EQ)?

Does it matter if the capacitor and the output are switched? All the diagrams I've seen show the cap on lug 2 and output on lug 3. You have them reversed. Does it make a difference???

the preamp produces a high volume noise all on its own. most dominant in the 1k-5k range. audible even while playing. has anyone encountered this and was able to do anything about it? it is just too loud. noise gate was not designed for this :D compared to other vsts too. very strange authenticity.
